Oh my imagination running wild; guess I’ve missed you from the day we first met

6:43 PM

The next stop on my dog friendly tour of the California desert was Borrego Springs for their statue garden and the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, which isn't technically dog friendly but Charlotte still got a chance to romp around. Charlotte wasn't as big of a fan of the statues as I was, but she still had a fun time wiggling in the sand and sniffing all the new smells. For me, I just thought the whole area was so beautiful; the desert is one of the many things that makes California the best state.

One Night Only, For Your Eyes Only

6:29 PM

I'll probably be switching this blog over to a lifestyle blog one day just because I'm not nearly narcissistic enough to continuously take enough photos of me in outfits to keep up this blog. It's just awkward taking a photo of yourself by yourself unless you're on vacation. And I don't want to become part of that large population of people, who take photos of themselves all the time. For the most part, I only started taking outfit photos to document particularly creative outfits or really special pieces of clothing that I wanted to show off.

Always Busy Dreaming About Boys

4:34 PM

Visited the new trendy eating spot in Orange County, TRADE, with my friends. Since it was so hot, I wanted to keep things simple in a dress and boots. One thing I love about these sunglasses from Marc Jacobs is how they instantly dress up your outfit and take your look from grungy teenager to high fashion. If you're ever at TRADE, be sure to stop by Krisp Fresh Living for their heavenly iced blueberry macha lattes.

No love, they'll never break the shape we take

This jacquard skirt is everything. I've said it before and I'll say it again - a shiny jacquard/baroque print skirt can make all the difference in your look. They're daring and always attract attention. What I like about this outfit is it has a lot going on with the printed skirt, lace inserts, cutout booties and color-block sunglasses but since they're all in the same color palette, it doesn't feel overwhelming (plus, it's super comfy and good for warm weather).

Some Things Are Long Forgotten

6:44 PM

This skirt is one of my favorite pieces of clothing. I love its bold pattern, its glitter factor, and the straight silhouette. Originally, I was going to keep everything else simple, only pairing it with black items, so that the skirt could stand out. However, I was feeling a little bit more daring and wanted to wear something that would hopefully grab TokyoFashion's interest if I were walking along the streets, so I added a key chain I picked up a long time ago in Japan and a jacket cluttered with patches.

So I Keep Talking About Eighteen; Cause I Can't Let Go of the Same Dream

Ever since Coach debuted their RTW collection, I've been a fan of their fun, youthful designs mixed with quirky patterns. And it doesn't hurt that their collections are all wearable AF. That combined with my love for how @coco_pinkprincess pulls off bombers led to this bomber from Coach joining my extensive collection of jackets. And with gift cards, sales, etc. I ended up walking away with this jacket for only $45.

Yeah I'm on a Mission, Trying to Get it All Out of My System

5:40 PM

Summer is my least favorite season. It's too hot to layer. It's too hot to go hiking. It's too hot to do anything other than shop and hang out in museums. And it's not like spending time outdoors is fun because I get sun burnt easily, which leads me to why I've never gone to Coachella. I live in fear of spending three days outdoors, burning the whole time while trying to enjoy a few bands. If I were to go to Coachella though, I'd probably just live in my black boots and camisoles.

So daydreamer, run in the dark

6:52 PM

A few months ago, I hit up a The Kooples sample sale and it was high key, the best thing ever. I picked up around $2,500 worth of clothing for 90% off and the best part was, they had the full size range for almost every item there, so it's not like you had to dig to find something nice. This pencil skirt is one of my favorite finds from the day. It has some of the signature piercing details that The Kooples does on a lot of their clothes, but it's not overkill.

You steal the air out of my lungs, you make me feel it

I love Rumi Neely; it's true. I love her effortless California style, the way she makes healthy foods look so aesthetically pleasing, and how she mixes high fashion with California basics. As soon as she started wearing slip dresses, I was all on board - frolicking around my high school in slip dresses and heeled boots. I even got dress-coded for wearing a slip dress circa. 2013 to school. There's just something so easy about a slip dress.
When traveling through Japan in 2014, I was surprised to see how many girls paired their camisoles and slip dresses over t-shirts. My friend and I even questioned the logic - why layer a slip dress in over 90 degree weather? Isn't the point of a slip dress to stay cool during the summer? But I gave it a try and I actually liked how I could wear the slip dress around without feeling cold every time I went indoors. Overall, it's just an easy way to switch up your look.

Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?

3:19 PM

Half of the time when I get dressed, I want to be lazy and just throw on a camisole with jeans. The other half when I put effort into how I look, I go for the "girl who hangs out with bands" look. Why? Because I can't be the girl in the band, considering my music talent is next to none. It's almost non-existent. Just ask my piano or my guitar teacher.
For this look, I paired my Peter Pan collared, plaid dress with all leather accessories so that the look didn't run too school girl. I also went for heeled pants to make my legs look longer and a berry lip, courtesy of Chanel's Cassis, to pull everything together.

La Vie en Maje

7:12 PM

It's hard working at a place that offers such great employee discounts and such cute clothes. Whenever there's an associate appreciation at work, my friends and I will often swoop in and buy up all the sale items we've been eyeing. Oftentimes, we end up buying the same clothes and when we do, this happens. #bitchstolemylook

When I was 15 years old, I had this great idea that I'd make a lot of money at a craft fair. Unfortunately, the craft fair had next to no foot traffic, so I spent the majority of my time reading copies of Vogue. I ended up stumbling over an article about Alexander Wang and since then, I've been obsessed with everything Alexander Wang. I recently picked up this purse and my dream boots from him and I could not be more excited. These boots are what my sartorial dreams are made of.

For Cool Girls Only

10:14 PM

For awhile, I went through this phase where I wanted to be just like Freja Beha Erichsen (or as much like her as you can be, when you're a 5'3" Asian girl).  After that, it transitioned to wanting to look like one of those girls who hangs out backstage with the band or maybe look like I walked out of an Alexander Wang ad. Either way, it all came down to me wearing a lot of black, choosing the right (black leather) accessories, etc. Even though I'm not half as obsessed with looking like an Alexander Wang advertisement now as I used to be, I still lean more towards looking "edgy" now over other styles.
